Lauran Hibberd Tells All In Dreamy ‘Frankie’s Girlfriend’

Darling, I’m a nightmare dressed like a daydream…

Hot off the heels of her recent indie pop banger ‘Hoochie’, Lauran Hibberd has unleashed her scandalous new single ‘Frankie’s Girlfriend’. It premiered on Dork on 25th July, and shows the Isle of Wight songstress only getting better.

The alt rock track is oozing with confidence and tell-tale gossip, and has the outrageous pop riffs to match. Her soft voice contrasts with her outspoken, tongue-in-cheek lyrics to make for an intriguing listen. Like her other recent releases, this exceptional Weezer-inspired hit could have snugly fit on the nostalgic Teenage Dirtbags compilation album.

In a video posted by Spotify, she said “It’s about a weird, risky dream I had about a pal of mine, coincidentally called Frankie”, and told Dork “It feels punchier, and a bit bolder to me than my previous releases. I think she’s got a bite.” Spotify have also added ‘Frankie’s Girlfriend’ to three of their official playlists so far: New Music Friday, All New All Now and All That Rocks.

It’s already making it’s mark on the radio waves too. As well as spins on Radio X and Amazing Radio, Transition Indie named it their track of the week, and Jack Saunders made it his latest New Wave track on Radio 1’s Indie Show. Hibberd will feature on the show tonight to talk about it, so remember to tune in at 11pm!

‘Frankie’s Girl’ is the latest single taken from her upcoming EP Everything Is Dogs, which is due 20th September.
